Victorian public sector technology buying spans two quite different worlds. State agencies buy at scale through panels and whole-of-government arrangements, so a lot of state ICT work reaches suppliers as a panel refresh or a work order rather than an open request for tender. Councils buy far more often in the open market — asset management systems, customer platforms, GIS, network refreshes, cyber uplift and the integration work that follows. Both appear on this page. Regional councils are worth watching specifically: they run leaner internal IT teams, which means more of their work goes out to market, and the field of bidders is usually smaller than on an equivalent metropolitan tender.
